A small, deliberately limited provider. Here is how referrals work, who decides, and what we will send you.

Tell us about a child using our referral form. No names or identifying details at this stage. We acknowledge every referral promptly, with a named person handling it.

Who decides

The manager decides. The directors can’t overrule.

The Registered Manager may decline any referral without reference to the directors, and the directors cannot instruct them to accept one.

Each home’s finances are built on a single placement, so no commercial pressure bears on whether a second child moves in.

Saying no is good practice, not a failure.

Referrals

Making a referral, in four steps.

    Tell us about the child using our referral form. No names or identifying details at this stage.

    We acknowledge

    Promptly, with a named person handling it, and we arrange secure transfer of the plan and assessments.

  3. 3

    We assess the match

    Against the child’s needs as they are, and anyone already living in the home.

  4. 4

    We plan the move

    At the child’s pace wherever the circumstances allow.

We do not accept a placement into a home that is not registered. Every placement, planned or urgent, goes ahead only where the Registered Manager is satisfied we can meet the child’s needs safely.

We’ll acknowledge your referral promptly, with a named person handling it. Sending a referral doesn’t guarantee a placement: every decision is made by the Registered Manager after matching, and we don’t place a child in a home that isn’t registered with Ofsted.

If a child is at immediate risk, call 999 or your local authority’s emergency duty team. This form isn’t monitored out of hours.

Compass House

Registered Manager.

Our Registered Manager for Compass House has done every job in a children’s home. She started as a support worker and was promoted to key worker, team leader, deputy, home manager and then Registered Manager. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a postgraduate certificate in Transforming and Leading in Healthcare, the Level 3 and Level 4 Diplomas in Residential Childcare (the Level 4 with Distinction), and the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare. Her work with children began in 2016, supporting pupils with learning disabilities in a primary school classroom. Since then she has worked in a specialist mental health hospital, supporting people detained under the Mental Health Act, and in solo, two-bed and three-bed children’s homes. There she has cared for children with mental health difficulties, self harm, attachment difficulties, episodes of going missing and substance use, including children living under Deprivation of Liberty orders. She is trained in PACE, the relational approach at the heart of our practice. Before joining Inkfish, she ran a three-bed home for children with emotional and behavioural needs, at full capacity, which was judged Good in every area at its last two Ofsted inspections.

Inkfish Care

Responsible Individual.

Our Responsible Individual has spent almost nine years in leadership roles across children’s services, as Registered Manager, Service Manager and Operations Manager in residential care and fostering. She trained in children’s care with Dudley Council’s social services, has opened and registered new children’s homes, and took her most recent home to a Good judgement from Ofsted. She has supported children with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, emotional difficulties and complex medical needs. She holds the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare and is IOSH certified.
